UNIOSUN Screening Cut-off mark for all Courses

Osun State University, UNIOSUN, is one of the popular state-owned universities in the Western part of Nigeria. The school is one of the earliest state universities that can compete with most federal universities in Nigeria.

Being a popular university with all the programmes accredited by the National University Commission, the school admissions have become relatively tough for aspirants because of the large number of applications the school receives every year.

Another thing that makes the school very competitive is the fact that indigenous applicants are given more priority than applicants from other states in Nigeria. However, notwithstanding, you can still be offered admission if you score above the average cut-off mark in screening and UTME.

Each of the courses offered in UNIOSUN has its respective cut-off mark. Programmes in health science always have the highest cut-off mark compared to other programmes.

In this blog post, we are going to provide you with an in-depth list of the screening cut-off marks for all the courses that are offered in UNIOSUN. This will help all aspiring students gain a general overview of the school admissions process.

What is UNIOSUN Screening Cut Off Mark

The UNIOSUN Screening cut-off mark is different from the JAMB cut-off mark. For the JAMB cut-off mark, it is the mark you score in JAMB, and the cut-off mark that UNIOSUN is accepting is 160.

The screening score is what you get after your JAMB score has been divided and your O’level result grades are weighted, and each will be given a point based on the grade you have. These points will then be added together, and it will be the total that will now become your last point. It is these points that are used for admission.

How to Calculate Screening Score

Before UNIOSUN arrives at a screening score, there is a standard way they calculate the screening score of each candidate. This calculation is very unique, and if you’re not told, you won’t know how the calculations are made.

However, we are going to show you how the screening score calculation is done so that you can do it for yourself and know whether you’re qualified for admission or meet the minimum required cut-off mark.

First of all, your UTME score is divided by 8. So if you score 200 in your JAMB results, it will be divided by (200/8), which is 25.

The next step is your O-level result calculation. All the grades have their respective weighted points in the point system. The points for each grade are:

  • A1 10 points
  • B2=8 points
  • B3=6 points
  • C4=4 points
  • C5=2 points
  • C6= 1 point

So any grade you have in your O’level result in your respective 5 compulsory subjects, it will be added to your main points. And that is how the total points are calculated.

Example: *”Let’s say a student scored 240 in JAMB and has 5 A1s in their O’Levels.

  • JAMB Score: 240 / 8 = 30 points

  • O-Level (5 A1s): 10 x 5 = 50 points

  • Total Screening Score: 80 points

  • Result: This student easily meets the 75-point cut-off for Nursing!

 Conclusion

The screening cut-off mark for all courses differs from that of all the courses. The screening cut-off mark is different from the general UTME cut-off mark. You can easily calculate your screening cut-off mark by following the steps outlined in the main blog post.
