List Of Universities That Do Screening In Nigeria 2026

After you have written your JAMB and scored the required mark for admission, you will still undergo another aptitude test, which is usually conducted by the institution you want to attend.

The popular way that most universities in Nigeria conduct their entrance examination test is through the Post UTME examination or the Online screening. For the Post UTME examination, you will be required to take a Post UTME Computer-Based Exams at the university, and for the screening, which is usually done online, every student who applied for admission is required to upload their document on the school portal for assessment, after which they will be graded, and this will be used for the admission exercise.

Over the years, most of the universities in Nigeria have shifted from the Post UTME exam to the online screening due to limited resources to accommodate the number of students to write the exams.

Most students like the online screening method because one doesn’t need to write the exams; you will only upload your O-level results, and it will be graded automatically, and the total points will then be used for admission.

How To Upload O’level Result On JAMB Portal

What Documents are Required for University Screening?

The documents that are required for screening differ from school to school. However, the most commonly required document for screening that has been noted for years is:

  • JAMB result slip
  • O’level result(s) (WAEC, NECO, etc.)
  • Birth certificate or age declaration
  • Local government identification
  • Passport photographs

You are expected to provide the original copy of all the documents mentioned above. Make sure that all the details in the document correspond with all your details in your JAMB profile to avoid disqualification.

Post-UTME vs. Online Screening: Which Is More Competitive

Many people feel that the online screening method is less competitive because of no exams, but the truth is a bit more complicated, and here is a complete breakdown of the competition level of each of the methods.

Online Screening

Because there is no exam, everyone applies. This makes the competition “invisible” but very high. Since the school only looks at your JAMB and O’level, if you have a 180 JAMB score and 500 other people have a 230, you might be disqualified without even getting a chance to “fight” for your spot in an exam. However, on the other side, this method is perfect for students who have strong grades (A1, B2, and B3) because the points for each of these high grades can boost overall points, thereby increasing chances of admission. Ensure your results are ready for the screening process by uploading your O’level result to the JAMB portal as soon as possible

Post-UTME (Aptitude Test)

For the Post-UTME student have a chance to still make proper changes in their Post-UTME score, which can boost their chances of admission. The major challenge here is that you need to start studying afresh, like someone preparing for a new JAMB.

Pro-Tip for Aspirants

If you have a very good JAMB score but weak O’level grades, you should apply for schools that conduct Post-UTME. You can use the Post-UTME to boost your aggregate, as the O’level grades will not be considered much for admission.

On the other hand, if you have excellent O’level grades (A1, B2, and B3) but with an average JAMB score, it is advisable that you focus on a school that conducts online screening because your strong O’level grades will give you more points that will boost your chances of admission.

Conclusion

All the schools mentioned above don’t conduct a post-UTME exam for admission. Some of the schools that were not mentioned here may not be conducting Post-UTME,  and some that are doing screening may have changed back to Post-UTME. So, because of this inconsistency, you are required to check the school portal for the updated information to know the status of the school.
