The ECWA School of Nursing is a missionary school founded in 1955 and located in Kogi state. The school was later transformed into a full-fledged Nursing school, some years later, where they now train students in the field of Nursing.
The school has a very reputable standard in education, and this makes it one of the most sought-after schools; for this reason, the admission requirements are always becoming more stringent as the years pass.
Like every other school of Nursing in Nigeria, any student applying for admission into the school must meet the minimum requirements for admission before they can be considered for admission. The minimum entry requirement is five (5) O-level credit passes in the following subjects:
- Mathematics
- English Language
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Biology
These credits must be obtained in not more than two sittings from any of the recognized examination bodies below:
- West African Examination Council (WAEC)
- National Examination Council (NECO)
- National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB)
Applicants who obtained their qualifications from a foreign examination body must provide an evaluation report or equivalent grading from the Federal Ministry of Education to verify their results.
Additionally, a verification request from the issuing organization to the Council is required to confirm the authenticity of such foreign results.
This ensures that all candidates admitted into the college meet the academic standards required for professional health training in Nigeria.
The acceptable minimum age for admission is 16 years.
This means that any applicant below 16 years of age will not be considered for admission into either the Basic Nursing or Basic Midwifery program.
After meeting this requirement, you will be required to take the CBT screening exams. The CBT screening exams are compulsory, and you must score above the required mark for admission, which is usually 50% of the exam.
The above requirements are all the minimum requirements needed before you can be admitted into the school.
Can I combine WAEC and NECO results for admission?
Yes. The ECWA School of Nursing accepts a combination of WAEC and NECO results, as long as all required subjects are credited.
Is JAMB required for admission into ECWA School of Nursing?
Yes, JAMB is required for admission. To gain admission into the College of Nursing, you must have a JAMB result and score a minimum of 140 in JAMB before you can be admitted into the school.
How to Apply For Admission Into Ecwa College of Nursing
If you meet all the admission requirements and JAMB requirements for admission into ECWA College of Nursing, you can proceed to apply for admission. The admission application is done online on the ECWA College portal. The steps to follow when applying for admission to the school are:
Step 1: The Account Creation (Portal Entry)
Applicants must not look for a physical form in Egbe. Everything starts at the official portal: econs.edves.net.

Step 2: Generating the Payment Wallet
The college uses a digital wallet system for security.

The Cost (2026): Approximately ₦34,320 (this includes the form fee, administrative charges, and transaction fees).

The Process: Once you register, the system generates a unique Flutterwave/Edves Suite wallet account for you.
Step 3: Making the Transfer

The Method: Transfer the exact amount shown on your screen to that specific wallet account number.

Confirmation: You will receive an automated email once the payment is successful. This email contains your Login Credentials (Username and Password).
Step 4: Completing the Bio-Data Form
Log back into econs.edves.net using the credentials sent to your email.

O’Level Result(s): WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB (Remember: NABTEB cannot be combined with others).

Step 5: Printing the Exam Photocard
This is the most critical step. After clicking “Submit,” the portal will generate an Exam Photocard.

The Rule: You cannot enter the examination hall without a printed copy of this photocard.

Submission: You are also required to submit this photocard at the Admin Office upon arrival for the exams.
Step 6: The “In-Person” Requirement
The application isn’t over when you click submit. For the 2026/2027 session:

Entrance Exam (CBT): Held at the Academic Area of the college.

Interview: Usually follows 24 hours after the exam for successful candidates. You must bring your original credentials and your Printed Photocard.
What is the duration of the Basic Nursing program?
The Basic Nursing program lasts for three (3) years, after which students will sit for the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) licensing examination to become Registered Nurses (RN).
