The Federal University, Lokoja, is the only federal institution in Kogi State, located in the state capital, Lokoja. Over the years, the school has grown in terms of students, classes, and lecturers. This rapid growth is brought about by the university governing council, that are ready to make the university one of the best in the state.
The school has gotten new faculties, which include the faculty of Health Science, Engineering, and Pharmaceutical Science. All these departments are fully accredited and are all functioning well with the training of students.

The JAMB cut-off mark for Medicine and other courses at the Federal University is out, and if you are interested in studying at the school, it will be very good for you to know the cut-off to be sure whether you qualify for admission or not.
The cut-off mark for Federal University Lokoja comes in two forms: the UTME cut-off mark and the final cut-off point. The UTME cut-off mark is just the minimum cut-off mark you need to score in JAMB before you can apply for admission, while the final cut-off point is from the addition of points from your UTME, O’level grades, and Post UTME.
However, the UTME cut-off mark is out already, but the school only releases the final cut-off point after they have conducted the Post UTME exams for students.
So in this blog post, we are going to provide the UTME cut-off mark for Medicine and all other courses available in the school.
JAMB Cut-off Mark For All the Courses Offered in FUL
The UTME cut-off mark is the minimum mark you are expected to score in JAMB before you can be allowed to purchase the School’s post UTME. All the courses offered in Federal University Lokoja have the same cut-off mark. The general cutoff mark is pegged at 160. So if you score 160 and above in your JAMB, you can apply for any course in Federal University Lokoja.
Note: this mark is the minimum mark you will score in JAMB before you can be eligible to purchase the school’s post-UTME form. It is not the final cut-off mark, and so it should not be uncommon for you not to be admitted despite scoring the minimum JAMB cut-off mark.
The cut-off mark that is used for admission is the final cut-off point, and this is released only after the school has completed its post-UTME exercise.
Cut-off Point For All Courses Offered In FuLokoja
As said earlier, the cutoff point is the final point that the school will use for admission. This point is arrived at after the school grades your O’level result and dividing your JAMB score to arrive at a point value. Once you score above the cutoff point, you will be admitted into the course you applied for. The cutoff point for each of the courses is:

How FULOKOJA Grades Candidates (The Point System)
Unlike many universities that conduct a physical Post-UTME exam, Federal University Lokoja (FULOKOJA) often uses a Point-Based Grading System. This system combines your JAMB score and your O’Level results to reach a final “Screening Score” out of 100. In doing this, your JAMB score is divided by 8 and then your O’level grades points are added which will arrive at the end point. The O’level points for each grades are :
A1 = 10
B2 = 8
B3 = 6
C4 = 4
C5 = 2
C6 = 1
One sitting = 10
two sittings= 5
Example: If you score 268 in JAMB and you applied for Medicine and your five core O’leve result grade are (Eng c4, Math c5, Chem c4, Phy c5, Bio c4) in one sitting. The calculation of your points are:
JAMB Point : 268/8 =33.5
O’level Points: 4+ 2+ 4+ 2+ 4+ 10 = 26
Total Points = JAMB points + O’level points = 33.5 + 26 = 59.5
This candidate will have a total point of 59.5 which is below the cutoff point of medicine which is 79. The candidate will not be admitted on merit because his score is below the merit cutoff mark. However, the candidate can still be admitted based on Catchment area policy or ELDS Policy.
FULOKOJA Catchment Area and ELDS Admission Policy
As a Federal University, FULOKOJA is required to follow the Federal Admission Policy. However, being located in Kogi State, candidates from certain states are given a Catchment Advantage.
The Catchment States
If you are an indigene of any of the following states, your departmental cut-off mark will be slightly lower than those from the “Rest of the Country”:
-
Kogi (Home State)
-
Benue
-
Kwara
-
Nasarawa
-
Niger
-
Plateau
The ELDS Advantage
Candidates from Educationally Less Developed States (ELDS)—such as Bayelsa, Ebonyi, or most Far-North states—also receive a lower cut-off benchmark to ensure national representation.
Does Federal University Lokoja Conduct a Post-UTME Exam
The Federal University Lokoja normally does not conduct Post-UTME exams; they use students’ O’level grades in their core subjects with JAMB to grade each student for admission.
However, in 2023, the school conducted a Post-UTME exam for its aspirants. So, the possibility of the school conducting the exam in 2025 is very slim because they didn’t conduct it in 2024, and now that most schools have stopped conducting the exam, the school may likely not conduct Post-UTME exams for the 2025 academic session.
Conclusion
The cut-off mark for admission into the Federal University, Lokoja is 170 for all the courses. Even medicine and surgery are 170. However, the catch is that scoring 170, which is the minimum cut-off mark, does not mean you will be admitted to your course of choice. This is because those with high scores are considered first before lower scores till the admission quota is complete for the program.
