Cut-off mark For All The Courses 2026

After the conclusion of 2026 JAMB registration, many aspirant who made the University of Abuja their first choice of institution will want to know the cutoff mark for admission in order to prepare themselves against the pool of competition for admission.

The University of Abuja does not only use JAMB score as the primary factor for admission. The school conducts a PostUTME examination, and the score from the exam will be analyzed with the JAMB score, and a point aggregate will be reached, which will be used for admission.

However, the general UTME cutoff mark for admission into the University of Abuja is pegged at 160. So any candidate who scored 160 in JAMB is eligible to purchase the school’s PostUTME form online and sit for the UTME examination. Scoring 160 in UTME does not automatically mean you will be admitted into high professional courses like Medicine, Pharmacy, or Nursing because these courses always have people with high JAMB scores applying to study.

The table below shows the realist score you should target in your JAMB if you are applying for high professional courses like Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Law.

Course JAMB Cut-off (Eligibility) Competitive Score (Target)
Medicine & Surgery 160 280+
Pharmacy 160 250+
Nursing Science 160 240+
Law 160 240+

If you can score these target marks in your JAMB, you will stand a high chance of getting admitted into any of the courses. However, the school’s PostUTME is another way students can get more points if they score and perform well in the exam.

UNIABUJA Post-UTME Exam Format: What to Expect

The University of Abuja typically conducts a Computer-Based Test (CBT) for its screening. While most universities only test you on your four JAMB subjects, UNIABUJA is known for its comprehensive evaluation. Their PostUTME question covers many areas, and to stand a chance of scoring very well, you need to prepare and read widely, and not just the four core subjects you wrote in JAMB.  The exam usually consists of 50 to 60 questions to be answered within 45 to 60 minutes. The subjects are often divided as follows:

  • English Language & Use of English: (Grammar, Synonyms, Antonyms, and Comprehension).

  • Mathematics: (Basic Algebra, Arithmetic, and Geometry, even for Arts students!).

  • Current Affairs & General Knowledge: (History of Nigeria, the FCT, International Organizations like the UN/AU, and recent news).

  • Core Subject Integration: For Medical and Science candidates, expect some advanced Biology and Chemistry. For Law/Arts, expect Literature and Government.

How to Prepare for UNIABUJA Post-UTME 2026

The only way to perform very well in the University of Abuja PostUTME exam is to prepare very well and know what to read. If you read the correct materials,  you will pass. Some of the steps to take when preparing for the school entrance exam are:

Step 1: Study the “UniAbuja Past Questions”

This is the most effective way to pass. The university tends to repeat the pattern of its questions. Focus on the General Paper sections from 2023 to 2025. You can search for past questions online or go and buy a hard copy. Give yourself time and study the past questions deeply.

Step 2: Master Current Affairs

Do not ignore this! Many students fail because they don’t know the name of the current Minister of Education, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, or the history of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

  • Key Topics: Nigerian Presidents, the 36 States and Capitals, and the structure of the Nigerian Judiciary.

Step 3: Sharpen Your English Grammar

Since English is compulsory for every department, it carries a lot of weight. Practice “Sentence Completion” and “Lexis and Structure.”

Step 4: Time Management Drills

Practice answering 50 questions in 40 minutes at home. In the CBT hall, the timer is your biggest enemy. If a question is too hard, skip it and come back later.
